  • To 'Hair' with Love!

In the PYP, it is believed that education must extend beyond the intellectual to include not only socially responsible attitudes, but also thoughtful and appropriate action. An explicit expectation of the PYP is that successful inquiry will lead to responsible action, initiated by the student as a result of the learning process.

This action came with 'Hair' and a lot of Love! Khwaish Balotia a 10 year old, is a grade 5 PYP learner who is currently busy with the PYP exhibition which is a culmination of the PYP learning journey . Her group is inquiring into the 'Impact Of Ancient Inventions on Life Today,' and a guest speaker from The Madat Trust personnel shared with the students the shortage of wigs for cancer patients, and the role hair plays in raising the self esteem of patients who loose hair due to chemotherapy. Khwaish took it upon her self to donate her silky tresses to make wigs for cancer patients. Khwaish demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and respect for self and others by reflecting on her learning, choosing the appropriate course of action thereby demonstrating a personal commitment to her own learning without grandiose, and with a tenderness and grace that it deserved. DYPIS is proud of you Khwaish!

A Note from Neelam's beauty and Medi care centre.

    Dear Khwaish,

We are very much obliged and pleased at your charitable act of donating your hair for a needy cancer patient.

We appreciate that at such a young and tender age you have such a large heart to realize and empathize with other human beings who are in need and in pain.

Not only you have been benevolent in your action but you have also inspired your friends to follow your example by doing similar act.

May you always be happy in life and continue to spread happiness around.

    Regards and best of luck.
